Steam Pressure Gauge

Instrument

This gauge was installed in the East Perth Power Station in the 1930s to measure the pressure in the boiler. The needle on the gauge had to stay in the centre so the steam powered turbo alternators met changing electricity demands. It was suspended from above and was easily seen from a distance. If the needle moved from the centre, a message that more or less pressure was required was quickly passed on to operators.
