Shire of Broome Library - local studies collection

Broome community reflected

Broome Library is the community hub of Broome where you can find out what is going on in town and browse 27,000 items to loan. Providing a cool haven for passing visitors and the local community, with around 17,000 borrowers, the town clearly loves their library. The friendly library staff host a wealth of community programs from for all generations, including book clubs, exhibitions, author talks and a swag of children’s activities. The community notice boards communicate community events and opportunities in Broome, and the library participates in annual arts events such as the Corrugated Lines writers festival, the Shinju Matsuri Festival and the Broome Fringe Festival. Among many things, the Local Studies Collection holds an extensive oral history section and copies of all newspapers ever printed in Broome.
